Proteins interact with DNA and RNA to achieve a variety of functions including transcription, replication and repair. Our group is focused on understanding how the proteins have evolved to achieve their function at a molecular level. We are particularly interested in the Dengue virus RNA replication complex and how it utilizes energy to achieve function. We can then use this detailed mechanistic insight to design drugs to bind and prevent function of these enzymes and eventually cause viral replication to stop.
